While we all hope that our communities are never the target of a mass violence incident, it is crucial that we are prepared and have a plan in place in the event that an incident does arise. You cannot plan for everything and each incident is unique.
The Preparedness, Response & Recovery Team at the National Mass Violence and Victimization Resource Center is working with the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) on reviewing the OVC Mass Violence and Terrorism Toolkit. The Toolkit contains information and tools for victim assistance professionals, as well as local, state and federal government officials that can be used to prepare communities for mass violence incidents.
Our team will be suggesting additional items for possible inclusion in the Toolkit and identifying tools in the current Toolkit that may need modified. Members of our team will work with OVC to develop and incorporate the new or changed items into the Toolkit.
Please check this page for updates and additional information on preparing your community for mass violence incidents.
